Digital Footprint

For this activity I chose to discover my own digital footprint out of curiosity of what I would find.  First, I tried a simple google search with just my name and a ton of information about a "Chelsey Turner" who is a professional athlete came up.  I narrowed the search by adding Nashua after my name and discovered the races (running) that I have been in appreared as well as my work email and link to my school and classroom website.

Nothing appeared in pipl.com.  I searched my name, Nashua, my phone number and email.  I have a facebook account, but set the search settings very strict and was glad to see that it did not appear in my searches.

  1. Hey Chelsey,
Have you made a conscious effort to limit the amount of information on the web about yourself? I'm happy to know that yo utook the time to look at the facebook privacy settings. Do you think most students do?

    1. I have. I get very weary about what is on the internet because I know that there are parents out there that will do these types of searches on their children's teachers. I like to keep my private life and my professional life as separate as possible, which is difficult. It is not that I have anything to hide, but I just feel that things like Facebook is my PERSONAL space and I want to keep that apart from my professional life. Constantly ensuring that I am being "professional" all the time inside and outside of work can be exhausting so I try and keep a little separation. Love my job, but need my time. (I hope this is not coming off the wrong way.

As far as students, I am not sure if you are referring to high school children or my peers in my class...
